About Me
I am registered with the Health Professions Council (HPCSA) as a Clinical Psychologist. I am also a registered practitioner with the Board of Healthcare Funders (BHF).
I obtained my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of South Africa (UNISA). I did my Internship at Weskoppies Psychiatric hospital and subsequently completed my Community Service at Steve Biko Academic hospital.
I have experience working with children and adults with various mental conditions, substance abuse and general life challenges. I work with individuals, families, and groups.
Approach
I use a Systems Approach to understand individuals in a group, assessing their interactions and reactions.
I also use other approaches such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Existential approach and others based on the individuals needs for treatment.
Services
I am contracted to most Medical Aids. Medical Aids and cash fees will apply.
Services by appointment only. Appointments not cancelled within 24 hours will be charged in full.
Individual Therapy
The focus is on the individual and how the personality plays out in the individual’s environment (s). Individual therapy focuses on various mental conditions such as Mood and Anxiety Disorders; Eating Disorders; Adjustment Disorders and Psychotic Disorders; amongst others.
Duration: 51-60 min
Play Therapy
I use play therapy to observe and gain insights into a child’s problems. This also helps with exploring emotions and dealing with unresolved trauma. Through play, children can learn new coping mechanisms and how to redirect inappropriate behaviors.
Duration: 51-60 min
Couples/ Family Therapy
Working with the couple or family as a unit. Focusing on communication styles, adaptive behaviour, personal and relational myths, management of feelings, sexual relationship and negotiating methods of conflict resolution.
Duration: 51-60 min
Group Therapy
Group therapy is a form of psychotherapy that involves one or more therapists working with several people at the same time.
Duration: 51-60 min
Psychological Assessments
Various assessment batteries are used to assess some aspect of a person’s knowledge, skill, or personality.
Duration: Depends on the specific test duration
